"Begging Monk in Nikko"
I used Photoshop to place the Begging Monk of Ginza (Who I photographed in Ginza) and placed him in a more traditional environment. I photographed this house in Nikko Japan. It needed something and the Monk was it! [link] The Original Begging Monk in Ginza [link] More Japanese Photos |

Imagine his contoured shadow being cast on the ground. Although the light is fairly dim in your house picture, is still strong enough to cast roughly defined object shadows. You could use that when projecting the shadow of the character, which will actually folow the shape of the bridge (in your image it just overlaps the bridge margins with no intent).
Another tip would be to use Multiply blending on your shadow layer, right now the black in it looks a bit out of place.
Finally, do not try so hard on the feet shadow. While the shadow might be stronger right near the feet (as you tried to represent), the difference is never that strong. The shadow in front of the feet (at the toes) will have to be smaller, because the way light drops. Also based on this, there shouldn't be any shadow between his feet at least halfway, the cast from his robe would be more to the back.
PS: I envy you for being able to photograph such beautiful places and people
