"City of Gold" is Los Angeles. I hiked up to the top of Mt. Hollywood, 1733 foot altitude, last night at 8 PM in the dark and took some time-lapse photographs of Los Angeles on a rare clear night. I melded the photos together to make a panorama. I love skyscrapers and cityscapes. At the bottom center, you can see the Observatory.

The zig zag of lights on the left is the Hollywood Freeway.
The three main streets you see going into the background are Vermont, Virgil, and Western. The hill on the top right is Pacific Palisades.

22,622 megawatts of power delivered by SCE July 21, 2007.
5,867 megawatts of power delivered by DWP July 21, 2007.
One megawatt equals 1 million watts, enough to supply power for about 650 homes.

:iconthankuplz: on City of Gold. I'm happy you find it incredible. The atmosphere has to be perfect for this effect to happen. Plus, I have to be hiking in the mountains to get it. This is the golden city on a clear windy night when the smog has been blown away. [link]
