On Sunday, May 3rd, 2009, our hiking and climbing group made the ascent up Strawberry Peak in Southern California. The hiking time was 6 hours round trip. The elevation gain was 2680 feet. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. Actually......it was before cell phones (when I did my hike) and no communities around for miles and miles.....and the only way to get a helicopter there - IF they would have come - would be for one of the other people to hike out (a 3 - 4 hour hike) to the road and car and then driven 50 miles or more to the nearest phone (maybe) to call and see......if MAYBE....there might be someone with a helicopter around! That's why I decided that I HAD to climb back down! lol I learned a lesson!
