In this sit-up, when you lower yourself down, you stop before your torso reaches the floor then pull yourself back up. Each stage of the sit-up should be controlled. Never drop yourself to the floor and never jerk yourself up. I'm 61. It's never too late!


Ex-Co-Workers at UCLA

These were my co-workers at UCLA when I worked in Radiation Therapy on the Neutron beam project back around 1985. As you can see, I have always enjoyed working with lots of women. ha ha. The one I have my hand on was the Oncologist we all worked for. The one on the bottom on my left was our nurse.

Father and Sister A Long Time Ago

This is my father, whose name was also Andrew, and my sister, Lupe, and me, Andy, at Lake Piru. The photo was taken around 1959. At that time, you could only get there over an extremely rocky dirt road.



Pancho Villa Revolutionary

On many of my family's walls and in restaurants in Texas and New Mexico, there hang tributes to Pancho Villa. Villa and his supporters seized hacienda land for distribution to peasants and soldiers. He robbed and commandeered trains and, like the other revolutionary generals. At that time, the Catholic church owned vast tracts of land and exploited the peasants and kept them from having an education. Pancho Villa broke the back of the Catholic church at that time. It is no wonder that when my mother dragged my father to church and the priest told him he would go to Hell for not going to church, my father told him, "I'll meet you there since you have your hand in the collection plate."

Andy and Karen: When I was teaching Science around 1996, Karen was another science teacher. We came to appreciate each others' warped sense of humor. She liked to mess with people's minds just like I did. If we'd go to lunch she would tell the waiter, "Ah like sum crawdads n grits n hawg feet." One time she told the principal, "Dem kids would behave a lot better ifen we shot one of them every month in the courtyard." Eventually, she had to move away because her Vietnam vet husband was jealous of the fact that I could make her laugh.

Why I love Zumba

I lost 25 pounds of weight over two years while exercising with Zumba classes.
Yes, I know I look silly, but I'm having fun.  
And, hey, I'm 60 years old.
